New collection goal!

Just a quick note :)
Last semester, I went hard and completed my goal of the OPI India collection. I own all 12 shades and I scored them all in time to gift them to my mother on her 50th birthday this year <3 I'm a sentimental sap, I know. D'awwww. Next up is a collection for myself. As much as I respect and adhere to my Indian cultural values, I am a die-hard New Yorker as well. So what better than to make my next collection goal be the OPI New York collection released in 2000!?

I KNOW. DAMN. 12 YEARS AGO. This will probably never be done, but maybe with help of the fellow nail polish bloggers in the community, I will get there someday, one polish at a time.

Here is the lineup -

OPI New York City collection Fall 2000

Soho Nice To Meet You NL N24
Big Apple Red NL N25
Grand Central Carnation NL N30
Vampire State Building NL N29
Madison Muavenue NL N28
Berry Berry Broadway NL N21
Marooned on the Subway NL N27
Orange You From New York? NL N32
Affair In Times Square NL N22
NYPD Beet NL N23
Live From NY… It’s OPI! NL N26
Cupp-a-Cawfee NL N31

If you are willing to part with any of your polishes from this collection or come across a bottle on a dusty hunt, please let me know! I am willing to buy or generously swap for these babies <3

A Week of Pinks

It isn't technically October 7, but I'll be taking a break from wearing Pink on my nails this weekend as I go to take my LSAT exam! It's Saturday morning and my tradition is to wear OPI Tickle My France-y whenever I'm hoping for a spot of luck. 2 successful interviews and many, many finals later, it hasn't failed on me yet! I know it's a mental thing, but I feel confident with that color. It's professional, sleek, and gorgeous! Although I'll be the first to admit it looks nicer when nails are longer, this Saturday is about no-nonsense, no-fuss nail color that'll keep me motivated to ace the test!

So here's what I wore this week -

My cuticles are crusty as hell. Eeeek. Am going to remedy that tonight!
This was just 3 coats of Essie, Madamoiselle.

Then I posted my NOTD Owl manicure and decided to practice half-moons.
I only wore this for like...a few hours. Way too mismatched, but I'm getting
better at using reinforcement labels and making clean lines.

This is 2 easypeasy coats of OPI, I'm Indi-A Mood For Love
VERY VERY similar to Cult Nails, Bad D.N. (I have that one too, will review
the two of them and compare later!)

And then I got REALLY bored in Creative Writing class and doodled all over
with an ink pen. Same color, just bad lighting. Yay yellow skin.
And then I got ink ALL OVER MYSELF and changed my manicure. Again.
Never worn this much pink in a row IN MY LIFE.
Milani Digital (Pink scattered holographic), 2 Coats :)
The small freehanded tips are Cult Nails, Bad Devious Nature (Bad D.N.)
Hey, I have a limited collection of pinks. Not my favorite color.
Swear, my thumbnail looks all cut at a weird angle but it's straight IRL. Bad shot but the glitter is shiny!
This was 1 coat of All That Glitters, Frantic Romantic over the top of 1 coat of Cult Nails, Bad D.N.
I didn't get any of the good stuff out of Frantic Romantic, there are hearts in there, but the glitter sinks like anything.
Blurred to show you a little bit of the holographic-ness!

ON A COMPLETELY RANDOM AND UNRELATED NOTE, we've had a lot of rain and fog in my town this week! I took this picture when I got off the bus a few nights ago on my walk back to the house from the bus stop :)

I like how wet and foggy and awesome everything looks. My poor camera couldn't handle all the moisture in the air.

Polish for a Cause!

Hi guys! Before I show you manicure pictures, I want to talk to you about something. About a CAUSE.

Nails by Laura worked in conjunction with a friend of ours to create a custom glitter nail polish blend. She released 100 bottles of that final color, called Dani-Mite, and announced that 1/2 the proceeds from this nail polish would go to a charity of Danielle's choice.

Currently, she still has EIGHT BOTTLES of Dani-Mite left! Please help me help her sell the remaining polishes!! It's a beautiful polish but it's for an even more beautiful cause.

I'm going to copy/paste below Laura's description and explanation of Dani-Mite :)

"I was recently approached by a member of a group I'm in to help her create a polish that we could sell to benefit the charity of her choice, The National Brain Tumor Society. Danielle herself has had a double diagnosis of a brain tumor, and as it is, this is a Cause close to me for personal (and probably obvious) reasons. So when Danielle approached our group with this request, I had to jump on it.
"Dani-mite" is named for Danielle, who brought this all to be in the first place. It's made up of satin turquoise, satin lime, and regular shiny orange hexes in a fine, holographic glitter base. As you can see from the swatch, it CAN be opaque with about 3-4 coats, but I do personally encourage it as a top coat, if only for easier application.
THERE WILL ONLY BE 100 MADE EVER. They will be labeled as such (1/100, 2/100, 3/100,etc). I WILL NOT make any more after that. You will not see this become part of my regular line. When the 100 sell, they're gone. So grab 'em for a good cause! "

Let me tell you, satin glitter is the shit. There was this beautiful pale lime green glitter in this mix and that just made my day. My nails looked SO gorgeous that I wore this manicure for a straight seven days. I haven't done that since last year!!!

This is ONE coat over OPI DS Sapphire. My ring finger has an
additional gold glitter polish on it, so please ignore that! It's a random
glitter I was going to wear before I decided to wear Dani-Mite instead.

It really GLOWED in the sunlight! I took this in the morning and my
camera was freaking out by the glitters. See how nearly translucent
 the green glitters look? They looked AMAZING against the bright blue glitter.

This picture really showcases how holographic
OPI DS Sapphire is underneath! It was an amazing combination.
One that I'm pushing on my non-obsessed friends for sure!

The sparkle. I can't even.

Thank you so much Laura, for creating this polish and contributing to a cause that means a lot to Danielle and yourself, as well as everybody else who has been impacted by this illness. I know I took a while before I posted this, but it is an amazing nail polish and I'm so thankful that you allowed 100 other people to contribute in such a unique way!!

Expect swatches of Laura's Horoscope Collection soon! I purchased the entire set as minis but haven't gotten any time to post some lovely pictures!! I've already swatched a few shades randomly as I wore them but I'll definitely go through and swatch them in the proper order asap.

The nail polish's application was flawless. The glitter has a great consistency!! It's not that sparse...as you can see, I found one non-fussy coat more than enough to complete my manicure. The glitter is not thick, goopy, etc. It lays flat. It glows and sparkles. There's no fishing. No dabbing required. Overall, this nail polish is worth your money even without the charity affiliation!!!! I had no problems with applications or removal and after one coat of my Revlon Quickdry Top Coat, the manicure was good to go! And boyyy did it last. Seven days. I'm still astonished.

If you haven't had enough link spam already, here you go again <3

NOTD - Jelly Sandwich Daisies

Hi guys! Still working on swatching up the Essie Yogaga collection. Once I do that, I'll have giveaway all set!!

In the meantime, here's a manicure I wore last week :) It was rather BEAUTIFUL!!

I wore the following -

OPI Care to Danse
OPI Pirouette My Whistle
Amy's Nail Boutique - Daisy

AMY'S POLISHES CAN BE PURCHASED VIA HER ETSY SHOP BY CLICKING HERE!

The OPI nail polishes are from the OPI Ballet collection, and they're beautiful! Care to Danse is a sheer grey jelly and Pirouette is a super sparkly silver/holo topcoat. Reminds me of one of the OPI Glam Slam polishes that I can't remember the name of. It's also very similar to a Revlon glitter. I don't have them but I might try to get my hands on em to prove that they are dupes! Or discover that they aren't.

It's a beautiful layering combination, I'll tell you that!

I wore 1 coat of Care to Danse, 1 of Pirouette My Whistle, and 1 more of Care to Danse. I wore that for a day but it got very boring/girly for me really quickly. It was really pretty but it was too monotone. To spice it up, I added on 1 coat of Daisy - Amy's Nail Boutique

Take a look at the gorgeousness!!

I wasn't going to take a picture due to tipwear of the original jelly sandwich, but wanted to show you how Daisy looks. Bear with me, ignore the cuticles, and enjoy the glitter!

Indoors, artificial light!
Outdoors light!
See the buried white hexes that are smaller than the white in Amy's Daisy? Those are from OPI Pirouette My Whistle sandwiched between OPI Care to Danse. Trust me, this was a spectacular effect in person.

I know, I've been featuring a lot of indie nail polishes, but that's alright...I'm linking you to where the polishes are and enabling them!!

Next up is another F4 polish, Pink Penguin. After that, I'll begin a polish series of Horoscope-based nail polishes you can ogle over and appreciate it! I'm wearing Aries on my nails right now...once I get through a few of them, I'll begin posting them here! I don't want to leave you hanging so I want to make sure I have enough "nail material" ready!

Alrighty, thank you for reading!! I hope you're looking forward to the upcoming manicures as much as I am!

~~~ RULES FOR POSSIBLY SWAPPING
I will consider swaps on a very limited basis because ideally, I want to reduce my collection.
  1. The Cult Nails polishes - it would be ideal if I could swap these for other Cult Nails colors I don't have yet. The colors in the blog sale are doubles.
  2. If you could let go of a Nerd Lacquer, please contact me about arranging a swap? I can't afford them outright but can pay you their weight in other nail polishes!! Because I know concerns have come up, I don't own a single NL and if I could obtain one of my wishlist colors, it would stay with me forever!
  3. I have wanted Nail-Venturous Flying Blue Jay for ages. Ever since I saw its first swatch. So if you have that, again, I cannot afford it outright but please please please contact me to arrange a swap!
I'll update tomorrow when I get some sun to swatch the pictures, but for now, let the text suffice!
Lazy Days of Summer Challenge - Flag Day
This is an older manicure so I won't post much about it...it was done for Canada Day/Flag Day but because I'm posting these challenges in order, I'm just reposting. I probably could have done another patriotic manicure but honestly, I haven't had the time for nail art lately D: Pre-cleanup picture too...but I promise I'll put in more effort for my next picture/manicure!
Here is what I used!
Model's Own White (Accent nails, white maple leaf, white french tip)
Essie Jag-U-Are (Red accent nail, red maple leaf, red french tip)
OPI Samoan Sand (1 coat of my go-to sheer nude on my pointer and pinky finger)
Happy Canada Day!!
Happy Canada Day, my lovelies!
This was a very simple and quick freehanded manicure! The picture is pre-cleanup, so I'm sorry for the messy white polish application.
Model's Own White (Accent nails, white maple leaf, white french tip)
Essie Jag-U-Are (Red accent nail, red maple leaf red french tip)
OPI Samoan Sand (1 coat of my go-to sheer nude on my pointer and pinky finger)
I think it's cute and conveys the point :)
And of course, to all of my Canadian followers of the past, future, and present - I wish you a very happy Canada Day!
Independence and freedom for all ;)
