Nail Pattern Boldness - I Believe I Can Fly

As far as new indie sellers on the market go, Nail Pattern Boldness is one of the best! When we stumbled upon her Etsy shop and subsequently, her blog, we weren't sure what we were in for. We saw that she had some great nails and swatches of her colors and that they were extremely appealing and affordable. Hesitantly, we placed orders, and the frenzy began!

A full-sized bottle of indie nail polish for just $6? It was too good to be true! Polishes escaping our notice for so long? Too strange! A seller with excellent customer service, a great blog, meticulous packaging, careful glitter testing....in Allison's line of nail polish, we found a real gem.

The first color I'm going to swatch today (I bought two) is I Believe I Can Fly, a gorgeous blue jelly polish packed (And I mean PACKED) with large and medium square aqua glitter. This takes the definition of a glitterbomb to a whole new level. It was literally full to bursting, absolutely no fishing required. In fact, I found myself wiping off some excess squares so I didn't overload my nails!

For these swatches, I wore one coat of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Blue It. After that, I layered on two coats of I Believe I Can Fly in order to get the suspended & embedded glitter look. The second layer is translucent (Because it's a jelly base, not an opaque one) so the square glitter peeks out in a darker blue tone. So much added depth and dimension!

1 coat SH Blue It, 2 coats I Believe I Can Fly
The blue squares from the first coat are still there!
I love R. Kelly and this is inspired by his amazing song - scroll to the end for the embedded YouTube video. I cannot wait to see what's next in the series - Allison said this was the first in a series! I would love the chance to own the rest of the series!! I'm looking forward to the next one already. This song is truly iconic and this nail polish is a worthy tribute.

Wow, I couldn't stop staring. This is Day 4

Zoomed out to show you how bright it was

This is after 4 days of wear. As gorgeous as ever, with the
embedded square glitter looking a little darker than the coat on top.

For now, full-sized bottles of I Believe I Can Fly sell for $6 on NPB's Etsy shop - click here to go to her shop. This was a limited edition shade, and I don't know how many more will be available!

The original post on her blog showing off I Believe I Can Fly can be found when you click here.

My honest opinion on this polish. the good & the bad -

Overall, I absolutely loved this nail polish. As you can see from the pictures above, this looked amazing on my skintone. It was like wearing blue gems on my nails, and I got a lot of compliments! Even from afar, the bright blue hue sparkled and the square glitter glittered like crazy. I found myself moving my nails back and forth to catch the light and....staring a lot. That's a good sign. It means that this nail polish is a winner!

Application was relatively easy. Because this polish is so full of glitter, It was slightly too thick and chunky for my taste. I don't think it needs thinner....I think the issue is that it just has so much glitter suspended in it that it can't help but be chunky. When applying this polish, I found myself running a semi-wiped off brush over it once or twice to take off a lot of the excess squares. I think it was definitely more full of glitter than it was in NPB's own swatches. Not a problem, because sparse glitter that you have to fish for is even more annoying.

But the problem is that because it was so full, I only wanted to apply one coat. This definitely needs 2 to give you that really pretty jelly sandwich look. One coat over some dark blue underwear is enough to be opaque, but you need the depth and dimension of 2 coats of this glitter to get the beautiful suspended glitter. When you layer the polish, the first layer you applied is still visible, and the aqua glitter appears a little darker, giving you a whole other dimension.

Removal is a PAIN and requires elbow grease. Obviousy, so much glitter = 1-2 thick coats of top coat. Removal of 2 layers of glitter + all that topcoat + all your underwear = foil method or soaked cotton ball method preferred. That's expected though, all glitters require additional effort to remove. For me, this manicure was so long lasting that it was absolutely, without a doubt, worth it.

No bleeding, no curling, no staining!

& also, because this post would be incomplete without it...enjoy the song :)
