IPSY: April 2013 Swatches and Review - PART 1

Hi Nail Sparks* Readers! This is Issela posting today, thanks to Pryanka's invite.

This is way overdue, since the IPSY May 2013 bag actually arrived today. For those of you who don't know, IPSY is a beauty subscription service that is currently kicking ass:
Each month, subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Members can watch and play along with the stylists with the same products that they are using. All for only $10 a month.

In this bag I received the Be a Bombshell Cosmetics Blush in "Beach Please", and while it looks ridiculously bright in the packaging, it goes on quite nicely with a light hand (pictured on the left). Pryanka received it in "Sweet Cheeks" (pictured on the right). These are the two side by side:

The next item was the Two Cosmetics Eyeshadow Duo in "Heartache" (pictured in the first two lines). I have to say that I got rid of most of my pink cosmetics when I overhauled my collection, so I was not keen on this item. However, the matte color is actually quite nice, while the shimmer was barely noticeable on the lid:

The next item was the Big Sexy Hair Powder Play Volumizing & Texturizing Powder. I do not have a picture of my hair because it did absolutely nothing for me except give my scalp a weird film.

Finally, the Sation Nail Laquer in "Love at First Byte". This polish was astonishingly sheer. The picure here is four coats. Normally, two coats is sufficient for other brands, but there was simply too much Visible Nail Line for my liking. The next morning, the polish had chipped on my thumb, but looked nice:

Overall, not a bad month for IPSY. The nail laquer is indeed a nice color, and I would wear it again if I had time to do four coats. I've been using the blushes since I got them, and the eyeshadow is not a good daily look, so it will be stored for those occasions that call for pink eyeshadow. The powder will be swapped/gifted away, as I have no use for something that makes me feel gross.

Grade: B+

  1. Oh gosh I am so glad I got that soy renewal instead, I actually used it before straightening my hair the other day and it left my ends feeling less frizzy/dry :) Which is always a good thing!

Thank you so much for the wonderful swatches!!! That matte pink eyeshadow actually looks really cool, but it's definitely not an everyday look, you're right. Too bad the shimmer isn't as powerful =/
